Plant A Tree for the Jubilee, then see it broken down on purpose!

25th of April, 2022

Mellor Parish Council resolved to plant 7 native trees (one for each decade) as part of the Jubilee Celebrations to mark H.M. Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. This was carried out by local contractors at Mellor Play Area and they have been admired, even by some residents who expressed negative views on the planting.

It seems that some youngsters do not agree with this. The trees have only been planted for a week when some were deliberately broken & bulbs pulled up around 5.30pm yesterday.

As should happen with all antisocial & criminal acts like this, the police now have a crime log. Can the Parish Council, on behalf of all Mellor residents please ask for two things:

  1. If you are aware of an incident, report it to police either ring 101, or report on line https://doitonline.lancashire.police.uk/PEDisclaimer/Create If an incident is not reported to the police, IN CONFIDENCE,  no crime log is creaed & the police cannot act
  2. If you saw or heard anything at teatime last night, please let PCSO Aimee Jarrett know by Email :[email protected]

Parish Council will make a decision on any actions following the damage at the next meeting.
