Mellor Youth Orchestra

Mellor Youth Orchestra

4th of June, 2020

Mellor Youth Orchestra was formed eighteen months ago and since that time it has performed at various village events
The Remembrance Service at the War Memorial was enriched by the talents of its members when hymns were played
One senior member Robert Lee played a haunting rendition of The Lat Post which was well received and afterwards marches and wartime songs were played
The Nine Lessons & Carols at St Marys Church again included accompaniment by the Orchestra
At a time when it seems that teenagers receive little good press I cannot commend these members highly enough for their reliability and self discipline in practice in addition to the free time they give up
It is an enormous privilege for Margaret Baldwin and I to work with such a talented and fun group of young people and I feel it is only fitting to name the members (with their permission) as a tribute to the input each has given since the orchestra was founded

As is the case with many young people in our parish when opportunities come their way they take advantage of them so it is often the case that some members have something else on when there is a performance.
We are therefore always on the lookout for new players of secondary school age and beyond to bolster our numbers
There is a lot of musical talent within the parish so please encourage any young person expressing an interest to come along and try us out
