Cllr. Noel C. Walsh R.I.P.6th of August, 2020
It is with great sadness that we received the awful news on Monday 3rd August 2020 that our friend and fellow Councillor - Noel Walsh had sadly passed away following a serious illness.
This is very sad news indeed and a great loss for his family and for all who knew him, a great loss to Mellor and surrounding areas and a great loss to the Borough.
Noel was one of those exceptional councillors, completely dedicated to his role representing and supporting the residents of Mellor and the Ribble Valley. He lived in Mellor for 41 years, had been a member of Mellor Parish Council for over 25 years and was the longest serving Borough Councillor on Ribble Valley Borough Council.
He was always keen to listen to the concerns of residents and had no hesitation in calling round to see people who needed assistance. He would readily forward their views and was passionate about maintaining the character of the surrounding area. His sage advice was given whenever asked and his local knowledge was phenomenal. He would happily speak up about anything which threatened the "special nature" of our beautiful village, its residents and surrounding countryside. A keen follower of Blackburn Rovers and Lancashire Cricket Club, Noel has served as a School Governor, Trustee of a number of local causes.
Noel was one of a kind, a gentle man and may he rest in peace.
The funeral service will take place at St. Mary's Mellor on Friday 14th August 11.15am, however due to Covid 19 regulations, all Government Guidance must be followed and only those invited by the family may attend in Church.
Many will wish to pay their respects and therefore may do so on Church Lane, socially distanced as the cortege leaves St. Mary's Church for a private committal at Pleasington Crematorium, scheduled at 12.15pm.
